The MakerMove mobile makerspace offers an exciting opportunity to engage with STEM learning in early years settings, schools, libraries, museums and community spaces.

If you are based in Sheffield City Region, we bring all of the resources and materials to you, providing a day-long series of workshops in which participants can design and make a range of objects and engage in STEM challenges.

What does MakerMove offer?

We offer creative and playful learning activities in which arts are central – a STEAM approach – and settings can choose in advance the kinds of activities they wish to offer (e.g. electronics, woodwork, robotics, digital creativity, a mixture of all of these) and/ or any themes they wish the workshops to focus on such as the environment, water, seasons and so on – whatever suits the need of the setting.

What is required?

All we need is a place to safely park the van, and a room that we can use to set up tables and equipment. We also need access to electricity. We bring with us three fully-trained assistants, who all have Enhanced DBS status.

We would set up for 4 sessions per day, depending on your timetable. Dependent upon space, we can accommodate up to 60 participants in each session. We could accommodate 30 children in the Early Years Foundation Stage and KS1, but if you have parent volunteers, that number could expand.

What does it cost?

The cost of a visit to cover staff, equipment and resources is £150 per session per class (minimum of 2 sessions, up to 4 session per day).

For a limited time only, schools that book a visit will also be given a Maker{Kit}, which provides resources to start your own makerspace (worth £150).

How can I book a visit by the MakerMove van?

You can submit an enquiry using the form link below. We will get back to you within 3 working days. We are taking bookings for Sept onwards, but dates will be provisional due to COVID-19.
